Week One at Villa Medigrun….That’s A Wrap

Treatment Day 3: Wednesday October 18th

This day consisted of about 7 infusions, including glutathione, amino acids, vitamin C, B vitamins, etc. We were also given some lab results. Dr. Micheal, the day prior, has taken a sample of blood from us so that he could examine it under a microscope and take pictures. My blood showed biofilms (where Lyme and other infections can incase themselves leaving them untouched by the immune system), oxidative stress, small amounts of heavy metals, and actually some white blood cells. According to Dr. Micheal, this is because I have only had Lyme for 5 1/2 years, people who have had it for longer usually don’t have any.

My blood was also used for bioresonance testing. This is when electrical waves are used and sent through the blood to show how an individual’s health is distributed and where there may be more strain. This is used in conjunction with medical and symptom history.

For me this test indicated that my heart is the furthest from normal. Although a little unexpected, I was not entirely surprised. About 3 months ago I started noticing that my heartbeat was constantly elevated, I got dizzy more, and my cheeks were often flushed. I started to monitor my heart rate with a pulse oximeter and found that my resting heart rate (even after laying down for 2 hours) was between 120-140 BPM, which is pretty far from normal. On average an adult is usually between 60-100 BPM. Another problem area was my gut. This is not at all surprising given that most Lyme patients have issues within their GI system. What was odd was that my gut had a lot more inflammation than expected, double the normal amount of your average Lyme patient.

I was given supplements, which differed from other patients, based on the areas of my body that were not functioning properly.

Treatment Day 4: Thursday October 19th

Chelation Day 1. We were given the standard minerals and vitamins before and after the round of chelation, which is a heavy metal detox. This seemed to be the toughest day for me. I felt really light headed and weak during and after receiving the chelation. After our last infusion we had to give two more urine samples, one to check the function of our kidneys and one to check the amount of heavy metals present within our system. Once the heavy metal tests comes back Dr. Micheal will determine whether or not we need another day or two of chelation. After finishing a little early, I went home and slept. That night I had a slight rash and felt weak, which I was told was all due to the chelation.

We also had a yoga session with the yoga instructor, Dr. Micheal’s wife Hannah.

Treatment Day 5: Friday October 20th

Day 5 focused on replenishing some of the good metals we lost during our heavy metal detox. It was a pretty easy day of 6 or 7 infusions. And finished of with a massage.

A week from today, Phil and I will get our stem cells. This was also day 4 of the green monster drink. Luckily we get a break from that disgusting stuff over the weekend, which equated to no green drink on my birthday!!!

Saturday October 21st

We decided to go explore Germany. We walked to the train station and, after a little confusion, we bought train tickets and made our way to Heidelberg. Thankfully I was able to get a prepaid SIM card a few days prior that allowed me to have internet while we went on our adventure. It ended up being extremely helpful because it allowed me to actually understand the train schedules, times, tickets etc. If you end up needing help with any of the train schedules head over to www.db.de and change the language to English. If we had not done this it would have been quite a stressful and confusing day.

The Castle In Heidelberg

Although the weather was a little cold and slightly overcast, getting to see the castle in Heidelberg was awesome. We spend about 3 or 4 hours in Heidelberg before heading back home. All in all we walked a total of about 4 miles, 10 flights of stairs, and 10,000 steps. It was great to get out and sightsee, but it was really tough on my body. I was in a lot of pain that night and ended up sleeping in till 11:30 the following morning.

Sunday October 22nd

My 23rd Birthday!!!!! Tyler, Mom, and I hung out at the apartment, played a card game, watched some TV (so happy we brought our apple tv with us), and then got ready for dinner. We ventured out into Dieburg, the town we are staying in, and went to one of the local restaurants. We chose the Römerhalle Restaurant before we left home. We used Google Chrome to look at the different restaurants and their menus due to the fact that it translates it for you. We walked 20 minutes into town (it was pretty cold) and arrived at the restaurant around 6pm. Our server was great, although they did not have an english menu available, he translated everything for us, answered all our questions, and was very attentive. Hands down, it has been the best meal we had in Germany to date. All in all, it was a day of relaxing and good food, which was exactly what I needed.

And just like that our first week in Germany was over. It has been a good first week even though most of it has been spent in the clinic or in bed. Dr. Micheal strives to insure each person’s treatment is individualized based on their needs and this is evident in everything he does.

Please remember that if you have any questions feel free to write a comment or contact me through the questions page.

    1. Hi,

I believe the treatment is worth it and although there are ups and Downs the clinic and dr Micheal take such good care of you. He has also added so many new things since I have gone. I wish I could go back for them all. Stay positive, I hope it helps.
